Cadmium telluride (CdTe) is a stable crystalline compund formed from cadmium and tellurium. It is mainly used as the semiconducting material in cadmium telluride photovoltaics. It is usually sandwiched with cadmium sulfide to form a p-n junction solar PV cell.
