Trackers are devices that orient the solar panels in such a way as to track the sun. They are used to maximise energy capture from the sun. They are mounted along with solar panels. |
Solar trackers come as single axis and dual axis. Single axis solar trackers can help move the solar panels in either the vertical or horizontal direction. Some single axis trackers are able to bring about tilted and polar-aligned motion. The dual axis trackers are able to aid both vertical and horizontal motion. Because of this, energy capture can be maximised with dual axis trackers.
Solar trackers are comprised primarily of sensors that detect sun’s motions over the sky. These sensors, along with other electronic circuitry, help align the solar panels in the desired direction. Complex control mechanism along with gearing systems makes the solar trackers cost-intensive.
